Gray & Sons The Art of Jewelry: Bvlgari Necklace Extension

Gray & Sons The Art of Jewelry: Bvlgari Necklace Extension

One of our clients came to Gray & Sons and asked us to make an extension for a Bvlgari necklace so they can wear it both long and short. Our Master Jeweler Diego Bolon goes through the whole process with us in our video.

The first step is to make sure the measurements of the links are correct so that an accurate model can be cast. Once the model is cast in wax it is time to start building the wax tree with the molded wax links. When that process is finished he begins to pour the plaster so that it be cast in the oven.

After eight hours the cast is ready for the melted gold to be poured in. When the gold cools it makes a perfect gold model where the wax tree once stood. Once he cleans the tree he starts removing each link from the tree.

The assembly of the pieces is one of the most important parts of the process. Each piece is unique to each part so keeping track of each link is very important. Once the assembly is finished the piece will be polished and ready for the client to pick up the finished piece.
